Men's Lacrosse falls to Piedmont on Thursday

DEMOREST, Ga. – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team ended its three-game road trip with an 18-3 setback at Piedmont College on Thursday. A goal by J.P. Hasson (Fairfax, Va.) evened the match at 1-1 early in the first quarter, but two quick goals a couple minutes later by Chris Hadlow and Chase Goff sparked a stretch of 12 straight goals through to the second half.

Piedmont improved to 5-5 overall, while the Crusaders fell to 4-5 overall.

The Crusaders were down 3-1 after one quarter, but were outscored by seven in the next frame to trail 10-1 at intermission. Josh Cobbina netted two early goals in the third quarter for the Lions, and then Jeremy Kohn – who finished with a game-high four goals – posted second at the time to cap the stretch. Cobbina also recorded a helper on that goal.

Tyler Smith (Snoqualmie, Wash.) stopped the scoring stretch at 7:37 with his 23rd goal of the season. The team's second leading scorer, Tucker Jameson (Mechanicsville, Md.), recorded UD's other goal in the final quarter.

Hasson, Smith, and Jake Frederick (Coppell, Texas) combined for 18 of the team's 24 shots. UD had 11 shots on goal. The Crusaders were edged in groundballs 44-29 and only won 6-of-25 faceoffs. They committed just three more turnovers at 23-20, but made nine in the second quarter. UD also struggled in clears with just 10-of-21 successful.

Christian Lopez (Las Vegas, Nev.) made eight saves against 26 shots faced. Alex Graham (League City, Texas) collected a team-high five groundballs.

Hadlow tied a game-high 10 shots and also joined Kohn with the same amount of goals with four. He also led all players with three assists to give him seven points.
