Streak ends for Men's Lacrosse on Saturday against Hendrix
IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team fell 13-4 on Saturday afternoon to Hendrix College. The setback ended a three-game winning streak for the Crusaders, who fell to 3-2 overall. The Warriors snapped a three-game slide of their own and moved to 3-3.
It was a tight game through 15 minutes, with a caused turnover by Drew Scanlan near Dallas' goal to create the go-ahead score with 3:45 to go in the stanza. Hendrix was able to build on the lead with three goals in the second quarter.
Tucker Jameson (Mechanicsville, Md.) had given the Crusaders an early advantage by scoring about three minutes into the match. He posted his third consecutive hat trick with three goals for a team-high.
Down 7-1 towards the end of the third, the home squad got back into scoring column with J.P. Hasson (Fairfax, Va.) finding the back of the cage. The freshman created a buzz for the Crusader faithful in the closing ticks as he made a crafty stick check to change the possession. He passed to Josh McClendon (Redondo Beach, Calif.), who then found Jameson open for a buzzer-beater goal to end the quarter.
Things remained at 7-3 through the first part of the last frame, but Hendrix turned the tide with five goals from 9:15 to 3:29. Jameson ended the run on a man-up goal to secure his third goal with 1:43 remaining.
Dallas was outshot 50-22 overall, but were even at 17 in the second half with the same total per quarter. Hendrix also dominated in groundballs 48-25 and won 17 faceoffs in 20 opportunities. Turnovers were tied at 27, and both teams cleared at a decent clip. UD was 31-of-38, while the Warriors went 37-of-45.
Jameson was on target with all six of his shots. Hasson produced a team-high seven shot attempts and put three on cage. Peter Early (San Antonio, Texas) and Tyler Smith (Snoqualmie, Wash.) also had multiple shots with three and two, respectively.
Christian Lopez (Las Vegas, Nev.) snagged a season-high 17 saves against 30 shots faced in 60 minutes. He also picked up a team-high four groundballs. The defense came up with 12 caused turnovers.
Hendrix was led by Max Lynch with three goals. Jack Gorman and Scanlan each netted a pair of goals. Dominic Dachille paced the road individuals with seven groundballs. A quintet of players had at least five. Samuel Martin (4) and Thomas Adamo (3) combined for seven of the team's 14 caused turnovers.
Taylor Noack and Patrick Adamo split 30 minutes in the goal. Adamo made nine saves against 12 shots faced.
