THE LEAD

The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team is back home for a pair of games next week. They host SUNY Oneonta at 3 p.m. on Monday. Later in the week on Thursday, the Crusaders welcome University of Northwestern (MN) at 3:30 p.m. The women's team plays the same school the day prior.

March features five contests overall with Dallas playing four of them at home. Currently, UD is 0-1 at Crusader Field having lost 12-6 about a week ago to Alma College. Overall, the team is 2-3 and coming off an 8-5 victory at Dallas Baptist University. Both wins so far for Dallas have resulted in 8-5 scores.


UD NOTES

- Peter Early (San Antonio, Texas) has caught fire past two games posting hat tricks and combining for seven-of-nine goals. He is the team leader in scoring and points (13).

- Ben Blessard (Falls Church, Va.) follows closely behind with seven goals and nine points.

- The top scoring tandem have combined for 51 shots with Early taking a team-high 27.

- Tyler Smith (Snoqualmie, Wash.) has dished a team-high five assists and scored three times for eight points. He is also winning groundballs (37) and faceoffs (32) to pace the squad.

- Christian Lopez (Las Vegas, Nev.) has recorded 76 saves in 300 minutes.

UD SEASON STATS


A LOOK AT OPPONENTS

(SUNY Oneonta)

- Currently the Red Dragons are 0-2 on the season.

- Oneonta is 0-1 in its lone road game thus far with a 10-3 setback at Vassar College to start March off.

- The most recent contest on Saturday at home versus Morrisville State College was postponed.

- Hunter DeLuca leads the scoring with four goals. Alec Solomito follows with three. The two have attempted seven shots.

- TJ Kilmetis and Jimmy Kickel are the other two scorers thus far for the Red Dragons. They each have 11 shots for the squad (team-high).

- Troy Stasko leads the team in groundballs (8) and is 13-for-21 in the faceoff circle.

- Andrew Helfman has logged 122:47 minutes in two games as the keeper. He has 25 saves.

- This will be the first meeting between the programs.

SUNY Oneonta Season Stats


(University of Northwestern)

- The Eagles had only played one game through the start of the month, which was February 11 at Carroll University in a 9-8 setback.

- Their other contest at the end of Feb. was called due to weather at Cornell College.

- On Saturday, the team was topped 15-1.

- UNW will play Southwestern University on Tuesday before traveling up I35E to face the other NCAA Division III men's lacrosse program in Texas at Irving.

- The Eagles are on a five-game road trip that ends with Monmouth College on Mar. 17. Their first home game will be Mar. 21.

- So far Brady Minich is the team leader in scoring with four goals and has an assist for five points. Keller Stephens (3) and Noah Vanderkooi (2) combine for the remainder of nine team goals.

- Zach Shockencey leads the team in groundballs (10).

- Through 120 minutes, Zach Shockencey has made 24 saves against 65 shots faced.

- On Thursday, these programs will play on the field together for the first time in history.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

On March 19, Dallas makes a road trip over to Huntingdon College (AL) for a 1 p.m. match. After the lone road game of the month, the Crusaders spend the final weekend with their last home matches of the season. They take on Calvin College on Mar. 24 at 4 p.m. and then will have "Senior Day" two days later against Piedmont College at 1 p.m.
