THE LEAD

The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team concludes the home portion of its 2016 schedule on Saturday versus Colorado College. First faceoff is at 8:30 a.m. The Crusaders are 3-11 and have dropped the past four games in a row. They are coming off a 16-6 setback to Benedictine College last Sunday.


CRUSADER NOTES

- Freshman Peter Early (San Antonio, Texas) leads the team with 17 goals and 27 points.

- Senior Alex Ziolkowski (Ann Arbor, Mich.) is right behind with 15 goals and 25 points.

- The duo mentioned above is tied for assists with 10 to lead the squad.

- Ziolkowski is one shot away from 100 this season, and leads the team in groundballs (75) and faceoff wins (109). He eclipsed 200 for his career in his second season as the faceoff specialist and holds the program record with 214.

- Senior Matthew Cyr (St. Louis, Mo.) rounds out the top trio scorers by also breaking into the double-digit column with 11. He notched a hat trick last outing and has nine goals since March 11.

- Senior Ryan Murphy (Yorba Linda, Calif.) has nabbed 233 saves and increased his career total to 471, which remains highest in program history. Murphy made at least 20 stops in both contests last weekend and has completed that feat in seven matches.

- Dallas ranks first in NCAA DIII for total saves (223) and tied sixth for saves per game (17.0).

A LOOK AT COLORADO COLLEGE

The Tigers are 7-4 this season and are coming off a 13-8 victory versus Carthage College two weekends ago. Colorado College is 2-0 on the opposition's field and 3-1 overall away from home, having split two games on a neutral site. Prior to Saturday's early morning tilt, the Tigers will play at Southwestern Univeristy on Friday. 

Austin Davie leads the potent offense with 35 goals and has notched 44 points. Tyler Borko has accumulated 30 points for second on the team. He is the team-leader with 13 assists and ranks third with 17 goals. Robert Stern slots second with 19 goals and is tied with Davie for second with nine assists. Drew Wiseman rounds out the double-digit scoring quartet with 10 goals. Chase Murphy has played the majority of time in between the pipes with 581:14 minutes. He has made 137 saves and reflected a 58.3 save percentage.

These programs met back in 2013 by a score of 23-1. Murphy mad 29 saves for Dallas in the home match.

UP NEXT

Dallas will conclude the season in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Classic on April 23-24. It will be hosted by SUNY Canton and the Crusaders are scheduled to face Alfred State first. The next day, UD wraps up the campaign with the host school.
