Whittier College too much for Men's Lacrosse Friday
GEORGETOWN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team fell 25-1 against Whittier College on Friday at a neutral site location hosted by Southwestern University. In their only road trip away from the Dallas area, the Crusaders went 1-2.
Whittier (6-2) scored eight goals in the first quarter and had plenty of momentum to keep control of this contest throughout the evening. Nick Hernandez broke the scoreless tie at the 12:14 mark and Matt Symes followed with a netter about a minute later to give the Poets a 2-0 advantage less than five minutes into the opening stanza. Seven more goals occurred for WC in the second quarter, as the Crusaders trailed 15-1 at half.
Dallas (2-6) would get a goal by freshman Ryan Thie (Saint Paul, Minn.) in the second quarter to break an 11-0 scoring stretch for the Poets. It was the seventh goal this season for Thie and his fourth in the past six games.

- Whitter outshot UD 59-11. The Crusaders were limited to one in the second half.
- Senior Matthew Cyr (St. Louis, Mo.) posted a team-high three shots. Classmate Alex Ziolkowski (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Thie had two apiece.
- Senior Ryan Murphy (Yorba Linda, Calif.) notched 15 saves in 60 minutes of goalkeeping. He also picked up a team-high eight groundballs.
- Dallas was 11-for-31 in successful clears. This included a 4-for-6 mark in the first quarter. Whittier was a perfect 16-for-16 in clears.
- 14 players for the Poets scored. Ashton Pieris led with four goals. Jonathan Kassity and Harry Kemp each tallied hat tricks. Pieris attempted eight shots and Kemp followed with six.
- WC had 40 shots on cage and 61 groundballs. Scott Pescheret was credited with a game-high 16 groundballs. He also went 23-of-25 in faceoffs won.
- Dakota Turgeon earned the win and made four saves through 30 minutes of action in the net.
