BACK ON THE PITCH

After playing five matches during a span of a week, the University of Dallas men's lacrosse team took a much needed break. The Crusaders embark away from the Dallas area for the first time this spring with a trip to Wisconsin. On March 26, Dallas plays Carroll University and March 28 at Milwaukee School of Engineering. Both contests are slated for 1 p.m.

The Crusaders are 2-7 overall and 1-0 in their lone game away from home this season in an 11-6 victory at Dallas Baptist University to open the campaign. This three-match stretch will be the longest span UD is on the road and will be the final time this spring before the Navy and White are in Irving, Texas, the remainder of April.

CRUSADER NOTES

- Freshman Peter Early (San Antonio, Texas) kept his point streak alive at nine games, and leads the team with 18. He is also the leading scorer with 14 goals and has notched one in eight contests.

- Senior Alex Ziolkowski (Ann Arbor, Texas) also has cracked double figures in points with 16 and goals with 10. The faceoff specialist is also tops on the squad in assists with six.

- Freshman Ben Blessard (Falls Church, Va.) has netted six goals and Senior Matthew Cyr (St. Louis, Mo.) has scored four.

- Senior Ryan Murphy (Yorba Linda, Calif.) continues to build on his career saves record in the program with 599. He has accumulated 161 this spring through all 540 minutes in the goalkeeper position. Murphy has posted a 57.9 save percentage and made at least 20 stops in five contests. This includes three of the last four matches.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS

Carroll University has yet to play a game this season, and will open with the Crusaders at home. It will also mark a three-game home stand, as Carroll plans to play nine times for a little over the next month. The Pioneers are coming off a 0-6 year, which included going 0-4 at home. This will be the first time these programs have met on the pitch.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS

Milwaukee School of Engineering is 1-3 and has dropped the past two games. The Raiders last fell Wednesday by a goal (5-4) to Kalmazoo. That contest has been the only one decided by single-digits. MSOE is slated to play Cornell College on Saturday before the matchup with Dallas.

Clay Gustafson and Oliver Winsor have each posted most of the production on offense with double figures in points with 15 and 12, respectively. Gustafson is the top scorer with eight goals and is one assist behind Winsor, who has eight to pace the squad. The other big scorer for the Raiders is Thomas Reid with seven. Pat Collins has logged 234:01 minutes between the pipes and has nabbed 26 saves.

These programs have only met once historically and that was last season at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Raiders prevailed 16-2 with the help of an 11-goal first half. Seven netters were secured in second quarter. Cyr and Ziolkowski each scored a goal and split half of six of the team's nine shots. Murphy garnered 21 saves.

Returner for the Raiders that led the team in that one included: Zach Markell with four goals and Gustafson having landed the minimum hat trick.
