Wabash College gets past Men's Lacrosse Sunday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team (1-5) dropped a 16-6 decision on a windy, Sunday afternoon versus Wabash College (1-2). Dallas has reached the midway point of the homestand and is 0-5 at Crusaders Field. The Little Giants were able to score 11 by halftime and lead by double-digits most of the game.

Two quick goals occurred in the opening quarter for Wabash. Collin Corcoran got the visitors on the board with 13:19 left in the period, and Tucker Dixon got credited for the assist. Corcoran would be involved 18 seconds later with a dish to Collin Brennan for the team's second goal. The Little Giants opened a 3-0 advantage with 12:08 left in the first on a goal from Steven Stark with just over 12 minutes to go. Stark would tally a game-high six goals, and Dixon made his second assist.

Out of a Dallas timeout, freshman Peter Early (San Antonio, Texas) found the back of the cage with an unassisted goal just under five minutes into the match. Stark countered back with a goal about 30 seconds later, and then both teams went cold for five minutes. UD's Early would cut the deficit to 4-2 with 4:42 ticks on the clock. Wabash ended the quarter with two and went up 6-2.

The guests then piled five goals in the second quarter to complete a 7-0 scoring stretch in the game and control the momentum. Dallas did cut the deficit to 12-4 in the third quarter, as Early found another pair of goals to give him four in the contest. His season-scoring streak has now reached six games.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

- Early etched a career-best four goals with his first career hat trick and a personal best 10 shots. The attack placed seven of UD's 12 shots on cage. He is the first player for Dallas to reach double figures in scoring with 10 goals.

- Senior Alex Ziolkowski (Ann Arbor, Mich.) also marked the scoring column with the final two goals. The midfielder has found the back of the net in five matches and Sunday's marked his first multi-scoring game. Ziolkowski shot five times and had three shots on cage.

- Senior Ryan Murphy (Yorba Linda, Calif.) garnered a season-high 26 saves against 42 shots faced. His counterpart, Samuel Stewart got credited the win with six saves against 12. Both keepers went 60 minutes.

- Wabash outshot Dallas 57-23 and 42-12 in shots on goal. WC picked up 45 groundballs highlighted by Billy Bernhardt with nine. Spencer Sikes and Zach Larue added six. The guests forced 13 caused turnovers and were 19-for-25 in faceoffs. They successfully cleared the ball 21 times out of 24 attempts.

- Behind Stark's game-high performance, Brennan was right behind with five goals and a game-high 16 shots. Another game-high 13 shots were on cage.
