Men's Lacrosse Concludes 2015 Campaign Sunday with Setback at Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team (5-12) closed the 2015 regular season with a 22-0 final at Illinois Wesleyan University (11-6) on Sunday. Dallas dropped its seventh contest in a row, all coming on the season-long, seven-match road stint.

The Titans ended a two-game slide, and had more than enough offense from the beginning face off in this one. IWU got on the board with a goal from Nick Winter in the first 1:18 minutes of the tilt, and Evan Mok-Lamme doubled the advantage just under a minute later.

Dallas trailed 5-0 after the first quarter and would go into halftime with an 8-0 margin to come from. The first 15 minutes of the second stanza would power the home team, which took 53 shots overall, to a triumph thanks to 11 goals. The double-digit mark kept the momentum for Illinois Wesleyan, and the Crusaders were blanked for the second time this season.

Junior Alex Ziolkowski (Ann Arbor, Mich.) led the UD offense with six of the team's nine shots, and picked up a team-high four groundballs. Fellow teammate Matthew Cyr (St. Louis, Mo.) was held to a single attempt and one groundball, as he ended his career-campaign with 42 netters. Cyr also set the school-record for points in Saturday's setback at Fontbonne University.

Also firing shot attempts for the Navy and White were sophomore Toby Zanini (Boston, Mass.) and senior Zachary Wellwerts (McHenry, Ill.). In the goalkeeper position, junior Ryan Murphy (Yorba Linda, Calif.) was saddled in the shutout, while picking up 13 saves. Already displaying a school record in saves, the NCAA save saves-per game leader heading into the weekend eclipsed the 300-plateau with 301.

Leading the Titans' attack was Colin Daly with a game-high five goals and 10 shots for the only player to crack double figures in that category. Mok-Lamme was right behind contributing four netters, and Tim Smith landed the other hat trick with a trio. Jacob Perry, Michael Julius, and Winter added a pair of goals each to round out the players with multiple scoring afternoons.

Winter and Mok-Lamme added four and three assists, respectively. Nabbing three saves in the triumph was goalie Jordan Staley. He played all 60 minutes in the cage for IWU.

Head Coach Keith Lindgren has completed his first season with the University of Dallas squad, and led the team to a program-most in wins, including a 3-1 mark at Irving, Texas.
