Men's Lacrosse finishes inaugural season with road losses to Aurora University (Ill.) and Concordia University (Wis.)

MEQUON, Wis. - The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team (4-10) wrapped up their inaugural season with two road losses, suffering a 14-3 defeat to Aurora University (Ill.) on Friday afternoon in Aurora, Ill., before traveling to Mequon, Wis., where the Crusaders were blanked by Concordia University (Wis.), 18-0, Saturday afternoon.

Friday, Apr. 22: Dallas 3, Aurora University 14 Boxscore

The Spartans quickly took the lead over the Crusaders, scoring in the initial seconds of the 1st period. The tough sledding continued for Dallas, as Aurora netted eight more unanswered goals.

Freshman attack John Owen (Mount Jackson, Va.) put Dallas on the scoreboard, for the first time, with 20 seconds remaining in the opening half. Owen, on the game, totaled five shots with three being on net, and also recorded three ground balls.

Dallas two other goals were scored by freshman defender Joey Mullen (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood H.S.) and junior midfielder Chris Kerner (Stevensville, Md.). Additionally, Mullen led Dallas with 10 ground balls, while Kerner amassed six and won 10-of-20 from the face-off circle.

Fresh legs played a role in the contest, as Aurora had 34 players see the playing field while 16 competed for Dallas.

In the end, the Spartans proved too much for the Crusaders, with Dallas suffering an 11 goal defeat.

Saturday, Apr. 23: Dallas 0, Concordia University 18 Boxscore

In their final match of the team's inaugral season, Dallas couldn't avenge their 12-3 loss against Concordia University from Mar. 14, as the Crusaders fell on Saturday afternoon to the Falcons, 18-0.

Though junior goalkeeper Blaise Dufrain (Manassas, Va./Seton High School) was hit with the loss, he managed to record 15 saves in an effort seeing Concordia fire 55 shots (33 on goal).

Kerner, freshman Tony Lemos (Dana Point, Calif./JSerra H.S.), senior Andrew Kent (Keller, Texas/Bethesda Christian H.S.), sophomore Stephen Joseph (Orange County, Calif./JSerra H.S.) and sophomore Matt Kewell (Coto de Caza, Calif./JSerra Catholic H.S.) combined for Dallas' 12 shots.

Meanwhile, Mullen accounted for a team-high three ground balls out of Dallas' 11 on the game.
