Men's Lacrosse battles growing pains in Arkansas, falls to Hendrix College and Carthage College

CONWAY, Ark. - The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team (0-3) spent Friday, Feb. 25, and Saturday, Feb. 26, meeting Carthage College and Hendrix College for the first time on the lacrosse field. 

Hendrix College 18, Dallas 2 Boxscore

Friday night's contest with Hendrix resulted in an 18-2 loss to for the Crusaders, as Dallas continues to battle growing pains as a first year program. Dallas struck first on the scoreboard, when freshman attack Tony Lemos (Dana Point, Calif./JSerra H.S.) cashed in on a Hendrix penalty with 5:43 remaining in the first period. 

The Crusaders could not replicate the first ten minutes for the rest of the game, however, and fell behind 15-1 until sophomore attack Philip Kaiser (Glenview, Ill.) answered  the Warriors with 10:58 remaining in the fourth period, off a no-look one-handed behind the back assist from Lemos. Lemos led the team in shots, amassing four, and was followed by freshman defender Joey Mullen (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood H.S.), whom tallied three shots of his own.

Dallas' junior midfielder Chris Kerner, sophomore defender Sam Carter (Chicago, Ill.) and senior midfielder Andrew Kent (Keller, Texas/Bethesda Christian H.S.) each picked up two ground balls apiece.  Goalie Blaise Dufrain (Manassas, Va./Seton School) stopped 12 shots on net for the Crusaders.

Carthage College 28, Dallas 2 Boxscore

Carthage brought much of the same, tallying 28 goals while limiting Dallas to two. Lemos accounted for both of Dallas' points, converting on both his shots in the 3rd period. Kerner had a nice game as well for the Crusaders, ripping two shots on net while gathering eight ground balls and winning eight faceoffs. Mullen and freshman attack Brien Lank (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra H.S.) each earned assists. Mullen was also second on the team in groundballs, tallying six.

Men's Lacrosse will play their fourth game of the season and first home game in school history on Wed., March 2, against Centenary College of Louisiana.
