Men's Lacrosse drops season opener to Southwestern University

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team (0-1) was defeated on Saturday afternoon on the road by Southwestern University, 24-2.

Trivia wise, remember the name Tony Lemos (Dana Point, Calif./JSerra H.S.), as the Dallas freshman tallied the program's first goal at the 14:02 mark of the first period, giving the Crusaders the early 1-0 advantage.

Things however went south for Dallas from this points, as Southwestern netted 19 straight goals before Lemos struck once again. Lemos finished with nine shots, six of which registered on goal.

Other Crusaders to net shots on goal included junior atack Lincoln O'Brien (San Antonio, Texas/Central Catholic H.S.), sophomore attack Stephen Joseph (Orange County, Calif./JSerra H.S.), freshman midfielder Brien Lank (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra H.S.), and sophomore attack Philip Kaiser (Glenview, IL/).

Of note, Chris Kerner, a Dallas junior midfielder, won 5-of-16 faceoffs.

Garrett Kochner (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood West H.S.) was Dallas' starting goalkeeper, while junior Blaise Dufrain (Manassas, Va./Seton School) played the second period. Dallas was outshot by Southwestern, 63-19. In the peppering, the two managed to save 15 shots on goal.

Up next for Dallas will be a 7:00 p.m. road game versus Hendrix College on Friday, Feb. 25.
