Men's Golf Finishes Sixth at SCAC Championships

WHITNEY, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team wrapped up the final round of action of the 2024 SCAC Championships on Tuesday.  The Crusaders finished in sixth place after posting a round three score of 322 (+34), wrapping up the tournament with a three-day score of 944 (+80).  They were one stroke behind fifth place Texas Lutheran, and one stroke ahead of last place Centenary.

Schreiner held on to their lead, leading the pack from day one, to secure the conference title with a 308 (+20) in round three and a 54-hole score of 907 (+43).

Andrew Bennett of Centenary and Trinity's Jacob Mason flipped once again on day three, having swapped places on day two.  Bennett reclaimed the lead with a 70 in round three and won the individual title with a massive nine stroke gap between him and Mason, who shot 80 and fell to second place.

Rex Soulliere paced the Crusaders, securing a sixth place finish and a 2nd Team All-SCAC selection.  He shot 79 (+7) in round three and posted a 54-hole score of 227 (+11); he finished second in Par 5 scoring with a 4.67 average and was fourth overall with 10 total birdies.

Mike Zhang catapulted up the leaderboard and just missed out on a top 10 finish with a 75 (+3) in round three and a total score of 232 (+16), ending the tournament in 12th place.

Trey Schneider shot 82 in his final round ever for the Crusaders; the graduate student ended at +19 for the tournament in a four way tie for 15th.  He was top five in Par 3 scoring with a 3.25 average and tied for fourth with 33 total pars.

Iain Griggs shot 86 to finish 30th, and Antonio Alvarez shot 97 to finish 35th.
