Crusaders Finish Strong at Wynlakes Invitational

MONTGOMERY, Al. - The University of Dallas men's golf team wrapped up their final round of competition at the Wynlakes Invitational hosted by Huntingdon College on Tuesday.  After 36 holes, the Crusaders finished in eighth place in the field of 14 schools with a total score of 607  (+31) having shot 300 in round two.  They climbed four spots on the leaderboard from day one, passing Maryville College, LaGrange College, Centre College, and Gettysburg College.

Huntingdon College won the team trophy as the only team to finish under par for the tournament, posting a two-round score of 571 (-5). They also swept the podium, with Brett Viator taking first place with a 36-hole score of 136 (-8).

There was significant movement in both directions on the leaderboard for Dallas.  Rex Soulliere shaved five strokes off his round one score to shoot 71 (-1), leading the Crusaders with a T15 finish at +3 for the tournament.

Trey Schneider (pictured) had the biggest move upward, shaving six strokes off his round one score to shoot 72 (E) in round two.  He climbed 26 spots to finish T20 at +6.

Iain Griggs unfortunately slipped a ways down the leaderboard after finishing round one as the Crusaders leader in 21st.  He shot 82 (+10) in round two, tumbling to a T51 finish at +12 for the tournament.  Michael Zhang shaved off a stroke with a 78 (+6) in round two, but dropped two spots to T54.  Antonio Alvarez shaved 10 strokes off his round one score with a 79 (+7) in round two, finishing T71 at +24.

Schneider and Soulliere both finished in the top 10 in Par 3 scoring, both of them posting an average score of 2.88 at -1.  Soulliere was also top 10 in Par 5 scoring with a 4.75 scoring average at -2.
