Men's Golf in 12th at Wynlakes Invitational

MONTGOMERY, Al. - The University of Dallas men's golf team wrapped up day one of competition at the Wynlakes Invitational hosted by Huntingdon College on Monday.  After 18 holes, the Crusaders are in 12th place in the field of 14 schools with a total score of 307 (+19).  They lead LeTourneau University by four strokes, and sit 12 strokes outside the top three.

The hosts Huntingdon College lead with a score of 279 (-9) as one of just two teams to end the day under par.

Nick Rubino of Hampden-Sydney College and Jack Burr of Huntingdon share the lead after shooting 67 (-5) in round one.  There are eight golfers under par, with -4 being the current barrier to crack the top three.

Iain Griggs leads the charge for Dallas with a 74 (+2) in round one.  He is in a three-way tie for 21st and is just two strokes off the top 10.

Rex Soulliere is tied with nine other golfers for 33rd with a score of 76 (+4), Trey Schneider is T46 with a 78 (+6), and Michael Zhang is T52 with a score of 79 (+7).  Antonio Alvarez is in 72nd with a score of 89 (+17).

Dallas struggled on Par 3's and Par 4's, but are currently in the top five in Par 5 scoring at +1.  

Soulliere is seventh in Par 3 scoring average at 2.75, currently -1 after 18 holes.  Schneider isn't far off in 12th, sitting at even par on Par 3's.

The tournament will conclude tomorrow with a 9:00 am shotgun start.
