Men's Golf Wraps up Play at Texas Cup

DESOTO, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team concluded play in the Texas Cup hosted by UTD on Tuesday.  The Crusaders finished in 10th place in the field of 10 teams with a 54-hole score of 925 (+61).  They were 30 strokes from cracking the top half of the table; Mary Hardin-Baylor took fifth place with a score of 895 (+31).  A score of +8 was needed to break into the top three.

LeTourneau University held on to win after leading on day one, and were the only team to finish under par with a score of 863 (-1).

After holding a one stroke lead at the end of day, Jacob Mason of Trinity University dropped all the to seventh after shooting 77 in round three.  Davis Archer of UTD, who was in second place after day one, shot 71 in round three to claim the individual title with a 54-hole score of 11 (-5).

Iain Griggs was the biggest mover on the day, climbing 21 spots on the leaderboard to finish T18.  He shot 70 (-2) in round three to post a 54-hole score of 224 (+8), leading the way for UD.

Rex Soulliere was the only other Crusader to climb the leaderboard.  He shot 74 (+2) in round three to post a 54-hole score of 230 (+14) and climb nine spots to finish T35.

Michael Zhang shot 78 in round three to finish T37 (+15), Trey Schneider shot 81 to finish T54 (+24), Sean McGarrity shot 84 to finish T65 (+33), and Sei Sato Uehara shot 87 to finish in 67th (+40).

The Crusaders will head to Montgomery, Ala. to play in the Wynlakes Invitational hosted by Huntingdon College on Monday, April 1-2.
