Crusaders in Fifth after Day One of San Antonio Shootout

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team wrapped up day one of the TPC San Antonio Shootout on Monday.  Due to a frost delay in the early morning, the teams could only get in 27 holes of golf, after which the Crusaders currently sit in fifth place in the field of eight teams.  Through 27 holes, they posted a score of 462 (+30), sitting 16 strokes above sixth place McMurry University and four strokes behind Concordia-Texas.

University of the Redlands are in first place with a score of 445 (+13) with Southwestern University close on their tail at 448 (+16).

Aaron Buck of Redlands is the leader as the only player under par at -1 for the tournament.  Drew Hermesmeyer of the hosts, Schreiner University, is in second at even par.

After posting an 80 through the first 18 holes, Iain Griggs (pictured) came roaring back with a -2 on the front nine in round two and is currently one stroke off the top 10 at +6.  Michael Zhang is tied with him at +6 after scoring 76 and 38 in the first two rounds.

Rex Soulliere shot 78 and 38 to finish T18 at +8, Trey Schneider shot 78 and 40 to finish T23 at +10, and Anthony Prudence shot 85 and 40 to finish T39 at +17.

The tournament will conclude tomorrow with 18 holes scheduled for a 9:00 am shotgun start.
