Zhang in Second after Day One of Chicken Express Classic

PLAINVIEW, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team completed day one of competition at the Chicken Express Classic hosted by Wayland Baptist University on Monday.  After 36 holes, the Crusaders are in second place in the small field of three teams with a total score of 578, trailing the leaders Texas A&M-San Antonio by 11 strokes.

Leonard Lebrun of Wayland Baptist leads after shooting rounds of 68 and 69 for a total score of 137.

Michael Zhang is just one stroke behind after firing two rounds of 69, leading the pack for UD with the lowest round of his young UD career.  AJ Prudence finished day one in the top 10, posting a new individual low-round score with a 72 in round one before firing a 74 in round two to take ninth place on the day.

Rex Soulliere, Trey Schneider, and Gus Holleman occupy 14th, 15th, and 16th with scores of 148, 148, and 151, respectively.  Iain Griggs rounds out the field for Dallas in 19th with rounds of 80 and 75 for a total score of 155.

The tournament will conclude tomorrow with a 9:00 am shotgun start.
