Men's Golf In Sixth After Day One of Tempest Intercollegiate

September 11, 2023

GLADEWATER, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team got their fall season started at the Tempest Intercollegiate, hosted by LeTourneau University on Monday.  The Crusaders are currently sitting in sixth place on the team leaderboard at +28 after two rounds of play, with a four stroke lead on seventh place Hardin-Simmons and trailing fifth place Hendrix by five strokes.

The hosts have built themselves a considerable lead, as the Yellowjackets currently occupy first place at -14, 18 strokes ahead of second place MUW.

Trey Schneider is leading the way for Dallas tied for 13th place with a pair of 73's on day one, sitting one stroke outside the top 10 and five strokes back from the top three players.  Iain Griggs cracked the top five with a 70 in round one, but is currently at +3 for the tournament, just one stroke behind Schneider. Michael Zhang is T31 at +10, rounding out the top three performers for Dallas.

Five Crusaders are tightly packed within five strokes of each other: Gus Holleman (+17), Rex Soulliere (+19), Anthony Prudence (+19), Antonio Alvarez (+21), and Sei Sato Uehara (+22).  Soulliere and Prudence were among the biggest upward movers on the day, bouncing back after struggling in round one to each climb eight spots on the leaderboard.  Sean McGarrity rounds out the field for Dallas in T60 at +34.

Alvarez, Uehara, and McGarrity are all competing as individuals in this contest.

The tournament will conclude tomorrow, with the shotgun start scheduled for 8:30 am.
