Men's Golf Takes Fifth at SCAC Championship

KERRVILLE, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team wrapped up play at the SCAC Championship hosted by Schreiner University on Tuesday.

The Crusaders tied for the low team score in round three with a score of 294, tying the champions, the University of St. Thomas on the day.  Dallas ended the tournament with a three-round score of 913 to claim fifth place; four strokes behind fourth place Southwestern University, and 18 strokes ahead of sixth place Texas Lutheran.  St. Thomas won the tournament with a seven stroke lead over the runners up, Schreiner University, at a three-round score of 884.

Jackson Lehner, Trey Schneider, and Rex Soulliere all finished tightly packed with each other.  Lehner shot a 74 in round three to climb two spots and finish level with Schneider in 13th place, who shot a 75 on the day.  Soulliere shaved seven strokes off his round two score, shooting a 73 to finish one stroke behind Lehner and Schneider.

Lehner and Schneider were +11 and Soulliere was +12, with +7 being the mark to finish inside the top 10.  Daniel Nunez of Trinity coughed up his sizable lead with a 79 in round three, allowing Zhao Yung Gu of Schreiner to overtake him and claim the individual trophy at +1 four the tournament.

Karsten Paciotti was the biggest mover for Dallas, shaving 13 strokes off his round two score to finish T25 with a 72 in round three.  Anthony Prudence had the biggest improvement from round two, going from a 95 to a 76 in round three to finish in 34th.  Mason Hitt rounded out the field for Dallas, shooting an 88 in round three to place T38.
