Men's Golf Finish in Ninth at Texas Cup

RICHARDSON, Texas - The 26th ranked University of Dallas men's golf team wrapped up competition in the Texas Cup hosted by the University of Texas-Dallas on Monday.  Including the Crusaders, there were nine schools ranked in the top 50 in the field of 14 teams.  The Crusaders finished in ninth place at +46 for the tournament, six strokes above Howard Payne University and three strokes behind East Texas Baptist.  Concordia-Texas climbed two spots to pass UTD by one stroke and take first place at +27.

Rex Soulliere was still the head of the pack for Dallas; he shot a 77 in round two, dropping four spots to finish T10.  He was just three strokes from a top five finish and four strokes off the champion, Daniel Nunez of Trinity, who won a playoff with Bryson Thurston of LeTourneau to claim the top spot at +3.

Karsten Paciotti dropped 18 spots with an 81 in round two, falling to T34.  Trey Schneider climbed five spots, shaving a couple of strokes off to shoot a 79 and finish T52.  Anthony Prudence and Mason Hitt were among the biggest movers on the day, making significant improvements from day one.  They finished T57 at +18, the pair both knocking 14 strokes off their round one score to shoot 74.  Jackson Lehner climbed six spots to finish T57 with them, shooting an 80 in round two.

Up Next

The Crusaders have two events remaining on their regular season schedule for the SCAC Championship.  They will head to Alabama next Monday to compete in the Wynlakes Invitational hosted by Huntingdon College.
