#26 Cusaders in Ninth After Round One at Texas Cup

RICHARDSON, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team kicked off competition in the Texas Cup on Saturday, squaring off against a stacked field of opponents.  The 26th ranked Crusaders finished round one tied for ninth place with Mary Hardin-Baylor in a field of 14 schools, nine of which, including UD, are ranked in the top 50 nationally.  Dallas and MHB currently sit at +24 for the tournament, three strokes behind the University of Texas-Dallas "B" Team, and two strokes ahead of Hendrix College.  The 15th ranked UTD "A" Team leads at +7, two strokes ahead of #35 Whitman College and four strokes ahead of #40 Concordia-Texas.

Rex Soulliere led the way for Dallas in round one, sitting in a six-way tie for sixth place at +2 just four strokes off the leader, #16 Daniel Shofner of UTD.  Soulliere leads the field in Par 4 scoring at -2 on the day.

Though he is just one stroke behind Soulliere, #30 Karsten Paciotti is outside the top 10 in a nine-way tie for 16th.  Paciotti is tied for the lead with five birdies.  Rounding out the field for Dallas: Trey Schneider is T57 with an 81, #74 Jackson Lehner is T63 with an 82, and Anthony Prudence and Mason Hitt are T78 at +16.

Round two is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow, March 20.
