Two Rounds Complete at SCAC Men's Championship; UD in 4th Currently

BLANCO, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship on Monday.  After day one, Dallas is tied for third with the University of St. Thomas at 603 strokes.

UD was playing well early, and was in the mix with Trinity University and Texas Lutheran University at the top of the leaderboard in the front nine of round one just two strokes behind Trinity and one stroke behind TLU.  However, the reigning SCAC champions began slipping away from their SCAC competitors as Trinity and TLU finished the first round strongly.

At the end one one round, Trinity led with 291 strokes, TLU had 293 strokes, St. Thomas had 295 strokes and Dallas was tied for fourth with Centenary College of Louisiana with 302 strokes.  Trinity and TLU played even better in the second round scoring 288 each for day one totals of 579 and 581.  Dallas remained consistent shooting 301 and St. Thomas fell off their first round pace with 308 in the second round.

After day one, Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) and Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) lead UD with scores of 148 and 149 for places eighth and tied for ninth.  Seth McNeil is tied for 14th with 152 (Plano, Texas).

TLU's Nathan Haley is so far the front runner for tournament medalist shooting -6 with a score of 138.

The SCAC Championship will conclude at the end of the third round on Tuesday.
