Montalvo Holds 1st Place at Rhodes College Spring Classic after Day 1

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - The University of Dallas men's golf team competed in the first day of the Rhodes College Spring Classic on Sunday, April 11. UD's Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) is currently in first place, individually, with a score of 140 and has made 10 birdies in the first two rounds. After starting with the lowest Dallas score in the first round with a 74, Montalvo shot his lowest round score of his career in the next round. Montalvo was one score away from matching the school record's lowest two-round score, after he set the record himself by one less stroke at 139. Montalvo achieved this mark around two year's ago at the same tournament. Trey Schneider (Mooresville, N.C.) and Seth McNeill (Plano, Texas) tied for 20th with 153 apiece.

After 36 holes, the Crusaders sit in fourth place with a score of 602.

Webster University lead the tournament with a score of 582, LeTourneau University is in second at 600 and Rhodes College is in third at 601.

The tournament will conclude with the final 18 holes on Monday.
