Crusaders Take 3rd at Alamo City Classic; Montalvo led UD with 6th Place Finish

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team finished their two day, 36 hole tournament at the Alamo City Classic in San Antonio on Tuesday. Dallas ended the tournament with a score of 576 for third place.  The Crusaders played one stroke behind the first day leader, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, shooting 290 to UMHB's 289 in the second round.  Trinity University had a remarkable jump in the standings shooting 11 strokes better than their Monday performance.  The Tiger's Tuesday tally of 276 leapfrogged them into first place for the tournament.

Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) repeated his first round performance of 71, placing him at 6th overall and the top Crusader for the tournament. Seth McNeil (Plano, Texas) shot 73 in the second round, finishing with a 143 and tied for 7th overall.  Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas) and Jacob Wade (Houston, Texas) both shot 73 to end the tournament with scores of 145 and 146.

Trinity's DJ Springer won the tournament with a score of 137.  UMHB's William Sammons and Ari Saldana ended in second and tied for third with scores of 139 and 140.  First day leader Chase Maus from Texas Lutheran University dropped into third to tie with Saldana.

Individual Standings

The Crusaders are back in action two weeks from now on Monday Feb. 22 and Tuesday Feb. 23.  They will return to San Antonio to compete in the San Antonio Spring Shootout hosted by Schreiner University and McMurry University.
