UD Men's Golf Wrapped Up SCAC Preview

BLANCO, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team concluded the SCAC Preview at Vaaler Creek Golf Club with a seventh place finish out of nine. The Crusaders shot 305 to shave two strokes off the team score from Monday and equal a 612.

Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas) made the most significant strides between the two rounds, as he competed individually and put up a 70. His 152 overall tied him for 24th. He also joined Seth McNeill (Plano, Texas) as the two golfers from UD to score an eagle.

All five golfers on the Dallas team contributed either a 75, 76, or 77 in the 18-hole round. McNeill posted the lowest score of those five with a 75. Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) remained the best score for the Crusaders with a 150 and tied 15th. Erik Ham (Brentwood, Tenn.) carded a 153, followed by McNeill's 154, and then Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) rounded the experienced returners with a 155. Jacob Trevino (Lake Forest, Ill.) posted a 159 in his first spring tournament.

Southwestern University rallied with a low score of 287 to secure the team title. The overall mark was 882. McMurry University remained firm in second at 591 overall. Mary Hardin-Baylor rounded out the top three team spots with a 595. Trinity University was in first place yesterday but slipped to a tie for third with a 595. Texas Lutheran University and Schreiner University each took a couple strokes off the team scores to improve to 598 and 611, respectively.

Trinity's Daniel Nunez won the tournament with a 141 (-3) thanks to a 68 and 73. Cade Osgood from Southwestern shot -2 for his 142. Chase Maus from TLU broke even with a 144.

UP NEXT

Dallas is back on the links next week for the Schreiner Spring Shootout. The two-ay tournament will be on March 9-10 at Comanche Trace Golf Club.
