UD Men's Golf Finishes Up 2019 Fall Season
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team shaved five strokes off its first round team total for a 300 score, but remained tied for seventh by the conclusion of the Alamo City Classic on Tuesday. Host school Trinity University prevailed with a 592 (294, 298) over the pair of rounds at The Quarry Golf Club. University of Mary Hardin-Baylor claimed second with a 593 (292, 301), and Hardin Simmons University rounded out the top three with a 594 (298, 298).
Other fellow Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) schools Schreiner University and Texas Lutheran University bested the Crusaders with a 597 (295, 302) and 598 (305, 293), respectively. Dallas ended up tied with Houston-Victoria and defeated Howard Payne University (605).
Jacob Trevino (Lake Forest, Ill.) carded his best 18-hole round of his collegiate career with an 18 after matching his personal-low on Monday. Trevino finished with the lowest UD score with a 150 and tied 17th. He totaled 24 pars to tie third-most.
Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) matched Trevino with a 74 for the lowest Dallas scores on the day and was a stroke behind UD's freshman. Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) scored a 75 and had a 152 overall, while classmate Erik Hamm (Brentwood, Tenn.) managed to repeat his 77 score and logged a 154. Wade tied the lowest Par 3 Scoring with a 3.00-clip.
Montalvo and Hamm had the most birdies for UD in the tournament with five apiece.
Jake Sitterle and Robert Quintana from Schreiner University and Hardin-Simmons University each shot a 139 (-3 Par) over the pair of rounds to capture individual wins. Trinity's Peyton Bartee grabbed a top-three position with a 143 (+1).
