Golf Announces Spring Schedule; 7 Tournaments headlined by SCAC Championship make up Slate

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team announced the spring dates for this upcoming season. There are seven tournaments on the docket, including the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship in late April. Dallas also will participate in a trio of tournaments hosted by fellow conference members. The other three will be hosted by schools in the American Southwest Conference (ASC).

The spring slate starts February 26th-27th with the Linda Lowery Invitational hosted at River Place Country Club in Austin, Texas, by Concordia University.

UD has a busy stretch on the links with three straight weeks of competitions. After the spring opener, the Crusaders play their first tournament hosted by an SCAC foe, Schreiner University. That two-day event will be the Schreiner Spring Shootout on March 5th-6th located at the Comanche Trace Golf Club.

The last week in a row of that stretch will be the Pinecrest Invitational played at the Pinecrest Country Club on Mar. 12th-13th. LeTourneau University is the host institution of that event.

It will be an even quicker turnaround on the next competition, as Dallas plays its only weekend tournament on the schedule the 17th and 18th locally in Plano, Texas. UT-Dallas is hosting the Texas Cup at Watters Creek Golf Club, and that tournament will cap the lengthy stretch by being the last one that month.

There are two remaining tournaments in April starting with the West Region Invitational on the 9th and 10th. Two-time reigning SCAC Champion Southwestern University host this final tune-up for the Crusaders before the conference championship.

The 2018 SCAC Championship is at the Panther Trail Golf Club located in The Woodlands, Texas. The dates are set for Apr. 23rd-24th. For the first time since the 2013-14 season, the conference championship will be at a new venue. It has been held at Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Texas, the previous three years.

Head Coach Garrett Smith is hopeful that the Crusaders will carry their final fall tournament outing into this spring. Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas) finished with a record-breaking tournament Low-Round (65) to lead him to the Alamo City Classic Title. Dallas rallied back to finish second place overall. This capped an impressive start to the 2017-18 men's golf season that already shattered several school records. Dallas will be eyeing to best some of them when the squad tees off in about a month.
