Hamm Wins by Matching Personal Low-Round Score; Men's Golf defeats Hendrix Consecutive Days

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The University of Dallas men's golf team prevailed on consecutive days against Hendrix College in another 18-hole dual on Sunday. The Crusaders shot a 315 to best Hendrix's 327 and win the third head-to-head in a row during the 2016-17 year. It is also the second time that the program won team victories in the same season and three times in a fall and spring combined veruses the same opponent. The other time was September 18 and October 18 in 2012 for the Arlington Baptist Dual. Dallas also topped the Patriots on April 9, 2013, for the third win in the 2012-13 span. Sunday's victory cemented the first time since 2010 that UD had more than one team victory in just a spring season.

Hendrix Dual #4 was at a different course from Saturday, as both squads teed off at Rebsamen Park in a Par 72 (6,666 Yards).

Tying a personal-low of 73 (+1 Par) and winning his first ever collegiate tournament was Erik Hamm (Brentwood, Tenn.). The freshman also shot a 73 in the fall at the UMHB Fall Invitational. His total was two shots better than his earlier lowest round this spring at Pinecrest Intercollegiate. Hamm notched a 75 in both the first and last round of that three-round competition.

Following Dallas' individual champion was fellow classmate Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) with a 76 (+4). Wade finished in his highest pace ever in the standings and matched a personal-low from Hal Sutton Intercollegiate this spring and the UMHB Fall Invitational.

Thomas Schuberg (Camarillo, Calif.) rounded out the top three Dallas players with an 80. He claimed fourth overall on the day, as the winner of the last two duals between these schools shot eight above. Matthew Nickel (Wichita, Kan.) and Oliver Rivers (Horsham West Sussex, England) completed the round each with an 86.

Hendrix was led by Kevin Austrian who tallied a 77 (+5). He rounded out the top three golfers in the standings. Hayden Proctor and Nick Hancock posted an 82 and 83, respectively.

Dallas gets a couple weeks off after performing in nine rounds the past month to start the spring portion of its schedule. The next competition for the Crusaders is the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship hosted in Blanco, Texas, for the third straight year.
