Men's Golf finishes Second Day of Competition at Texas Cup

ALLEN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team wrapped up its busy week with day two of the Texas Cup hosted by University of Texas at Dallas on Sunday. The Crusaders participated in their second tournament with four of the past seven days spent competing on the links. Dallas finished eighth overall.

The Crusaders compiled a 653 altogether after swinging for 332 strokes in the second round at Golf Club at Twin Creeks. Mary Hardin-Baylor held on to the top spot for consecutive days and won with a 603. McMurry University nipped a stroke on its overall total for 306 and combined for 613, but a 27-stroke increase for Concordia University allowed the teams to flip from second and fourth. Schreiner University completed the top three with a 613.

Thomas Schuberg (Camarillo, Calif.) was the lone player for UD below 80 and posted a team-best 78 to compile a 153. His overall total placed him in a tie for 12th. Erik Hamm (Brentwood, Tenn.) came in second on the squad with a 160 overall after posting an 81 on the second day. His total tied him 28th. Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) posted an 84. It was one stroke below Saturday's performance, but the freshman did contribute a team-best seven birdies. Schuberg finished with six.

Mary Hardin-Baylor placed the top two golfers with Alden Fortner starting the day tied 8th with a 75, but shot about the same shaving a stroke off to prevail with a 149 (+5). Teammate Jarrod Brown was second after round one with a 72, and remained in that spot with a 78 the second day to equate to a 150 (+6). Five players tied for third with 151s. Among this quintet included: Logan Young, Jaxson Daskolas, Reed Shelley, Jacob Rockefeller, and Jason Lopez.

Individual Standings

Dallas is at the Hendrix College Dual on April 1-2. These squads met on the course this past fall. Each day will be counted as a round for a separate tournament.
