Men's Golf finishes Pinecrest Intercollegiate on Tuesday

LONGVIEW, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team concluded its first spring tournament of 2017 with a 321 in the third round on Tuesday at the Pinecrest Intercollegiate. Dallas improved on its previous round by five strokes, but fell well short of its opening 18-hole performance of 312.

In their first three-round tournament of 2016-17, Dallas totaled a 959 and finished 6th among the university division. Webster College won out of that group with an 899. Host school LeTourneau University was right behind at 903 and shot a round-low 304 among such schools. Houston-Victoria rounded out the top three by tallying a 907 combined over 54 holes.

Thomas Schuberg (Camarillo, Calif.) scored his lowest round of the three on Tuesday with a 74. He led the Crusaders overall for 23rd with a 228. He continues to paced Dallas as the top finisher in all tournaments both this fall and to start the spring off.

Erik Hamm (Brentwood, Tenn.) was the other UD golfer to check in under the top-30 with a 231. His 75 on the day matched his first round finish and gave the freshman 28th. Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) displayed his best 18-hole game in the tournament with an 81.  

Schuberg and Hamm tied among four other players for third in Birdies (10). The Crusaders also ranked in that same position as a team with 30 total.

Overall, Jon Hughes from Webster won with a 213. He shot a 70 in the last two rounds to finish even for par.
