Men's Golf Completes two rounds of Pinecrest Intercollegiate on Monday

LONGVIEW, Texas – The University of Dallas men's teed off for the first time this spring on Monday in the Pinecrest Intercollegiate hosted by LeTourneau University. On Monday, the Crusaders played two rounds.

At the end of the opening 18-holes, Thomas Schuberg (Camarillo, Calif.) and Erik Hamm (Brentwood, Tenn.) were tied for 18th having shot a 75 apiece. The top two seeded shooters and fall performers were two and three strokes, respectively, away from matching a season-low.

Oliver Rivers (Horsham West Sussex, England) did claim a personal low by etching a 78 in the opening round. That bested his previous mark of 79 in the fall at University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) Invitational.

In the second round, only Matthew Nickel (Wichita, Kan.) improved on his score going from 89 to 84 by the end of the next turn in the evening. Schuberg checks in at 30th after scoring a team-low 79 in the second round.

Individual Standings (Two Rounds)

Dallas combined to score a 312 in the first round, which was four points away from tying the single-low record in the program from University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the fall. That mark for the team placed eight out of 13 squads. This included being ahead of fellow Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) foe Centenary College.

At the end of two rounds, the Crusaders dipped into a tie for ninth at 638 overall.

Murray State College leads after matching the best scores in both rounds (282) for a 564. Tyler Junior College follows at 590 and Webster University rounds out the top 3 with a 590.

This is the Crusaders first match of 2016-17 to go three rounds. The final 18 holes begin Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
