Men's Golf completes Day 1 of The Classics at The Tribute

THE COLONY, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team completed day one of The Classics at The Tribute hosted by Texas A&M-Commerce on Monday. The Crusaders sit tied in 12th place after shooting 317 on the day at The Tribute Golf Club.

Thomas Schuberg (Camarillo, Calif.) shot the best score for UD with a 75 (+3 Par). That mark is his second lowest of the campaign. Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) hit five over with a 77. That mark was a stroke behind his career best in the most recent round at University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Erik Hamm (Brentwood, Tenn.) rounded out the top three with an 80.

With mostly NCAA Division II teams participating, University of Arkansas-Fort Smith had the early lead with a 280 team score. Chris Eckes from the Lions ranks first place with an individual score of 67 (-5 Par). Teammate Corbin Hill is tied for second with Incarnate Word's Kevin Smith. Both shot a 69 and Texas A&M International's Steven Martinez and Murray State College's George Whitebread produced 70 strokes to complete the early top five spots.

Full Individual Standings

Tyler Junior College (287) and Texas A&M International (288) rank second and third with one stroke separating them. Host school A&M-Commerce is fourth with a 289 and Murray State and Incarnate Word each accumulated team scores of 291.

Tuesday is day two for these squads. It will also conclude the fall season for Dallas.
