YEAR IN REVIEW: Men's Golf

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team completed the 2014-15 campaign, performing in eight tournaments (three fall, and five spring). Some notable finishes were the Arlington Baptist College Dual, as the team won its fifth-straight meeting against the Patriots. The Navy and white finished sixth in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), and 18th in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) in the fall campaign. Freshman Chris Eckes headlined the individual rankings for the Crusaders, including tying and later breaking the school record for lowest score in a round of 18 holes. The previous mark was held in 1959. Stepping into the Head Coaching ranks was Brent Perkins. He guided the Navy and White through five tournaments this spring.

NOTABLE MOMENTS

  • The team claimed a tournament win versus Arlington Baptist College on Apr. 14, 2015.
  • Finished 15th out of 22 programs in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) on Oct. 13-14, 2014.
  • Eckes shot a school and personal record breaking 69 in the second round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships on Apr. 20, 2015. Would tie for 11th overall in the rankings after three rounds.
  • Eckes prevailed in the individual rankings three times: taking first at the Arlington Baptist College match on Apr. 14, day two of the Hendrix College Dual on Oct. 19, 2014, and tournament versus Haskell College on Mar. 16, 2015.
  • Senior Stephan Jasper shot a 76 in the second round to tie the team-low and would tie for 23rd out of 125 in the USCAA Tournament with a 161 overall. Eckes tied fifth and would notch a 151 over the two days.
  • In the second day of the Hendrix College Dual on Oct. 19, 2014, Eckes matched a historic mark (at the time) in the school record books with a 70 through an 18-hole round.

  • Freshman Matthew Nickel – 2015 SCAC All-Sportsmanship Men's Golf Team.  
  • Eckes – 2015 All-SCAC Second Team.
