Men's Golf SCAC Championship Day Two

BLANCO, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team concluded the 2015 campaign with the third round at Vaaler Creek Golf Club on Tuesday. Dallas tied its round two score of 344 to compile a 1056 and take sixth in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships.

Freshman Chris Eckes (Fort Smith, Ark.) tied for 11th in the individual rankings with a 225 altogether. The new program-record holder for lowest score for 18 holes produced a team-best 75 on the last round. Eckes set the school mark and personal best with a 69 during the second trip through 18 for the Navy and White. The previous record was 70, which the rookie notched Oct. 19 at the Hendrix College Dual.

Senior Stephen Jasper (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) shot an 86 after posting a pair of 84s on Monday to compile a 254. Freshman Matthew Nickel (Wichita, Kan.) and junior Michael Sarrat (Colleyville, Texas) improved to shoot their best scores of the tournament in the finale.

Tallying an 879 overall to clinch the team title was Schreiner University. Trinity University and Southwestern University rounded out the top three with an 890 and 892, respectively. The duo posted 297s apiece in round three to match team-bests on the day. It was not enough to capture the Mountaineers', who shot a tournament-low 286 in the second round to build a large advantage.

Adam Peterson from Texas Lutheran tied Eckes with an individual low, 69, in the final round to propel to the championship title with a 214. Southwestern's Connor Murphy was just behind with a 215, and Redmond Lyons of Trinity tied with Schreiner's Jimmy Kenner with a 218.
