Eckes Named to Men's Golf All-SCAC Second Team
BLANCO, Texas - Freshman Chris Eckes (Fort Smith, Ark.) from the Universty of Dallas men's golf team was tabbed on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) All-Conference Second Team Tuesday following the SCAC Championship. He earns the first ever accolade since Dallas joined the league four years ago.
The last time a member of the UD golf program to notch an All-Conference honor was in 2010 when Kyle Callahan was named to the All-NEAC First Team, and Brady Bulmanski ganered the Second Team.
Eckes had a historic rookie debut campaign with the Crusaders, matching the school record with a 70 during an 18-round dual tournament versus Hendrix College October 18, 2014. The native of Fort Smith, Arkansas, set the new mark with a 69 on Monday during the second round of the SCAC Championship.
That total tied the second lowest round-low during the entire tournament, as Eckes tied for 11th and led Dallas in every tournament this spring. He finished the year with a 225 overall during the three-round affair at Vaaler Creek Golf Club.
