SCAC CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW: Dallas Men's Golf

BLANCO, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team begins the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Tournament. The opening rounds are Monday, Apr. 20 with the second day concluding the final round on Tuesday.

Participating for Dallas on the course will include: freshmen Chris Eckes (Fort Smith, Ark.), Matthew Nickel (Wichita, Kan.), and Chris Sarrat (Colleyville, Texas). Sarrat's older brother, junior Michael Sarrat (Colleyville, Texas) and senior Stephan Jasper (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) round out the five competitors for the Crusaders.

Eckes has paced the offense for UD all year, and especially in the spring of his rookie campaign. He has shot 76 or less in five of the meets this spring. The rookie was named conference Golfer-of-the-Week for the fifth week through March 17.

Last season Schreiner University claimed the championship as a team, while Trinity University, and Southwestern University rounded out the top three.

Jasper and Michael Sarrat both competed in the most recent tournament, and Jasper boasted the best finish amongst the group. He shot a pair of 83's to compile a team-high in that contest.
