First Day complete for Men's Golf at UTD Men's Spring Classic

GARLAND, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team completed day one of the University of Texas-Dallas Men's Spring Classic at Firewheel Golf Park on Monday. Two rounds were finished by each competitor.

Leading UD in the individual competition was freshman Chris Eckes (Fort Smith, Ark.) with a team-best 149. The defending Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Golfer-of-the-Week opened with a 74, and is tied sixth overall to rank as the highest Crusader finisher.

Fellow teammate Matthew Nickel (Wichita, Kan.) compiled a 179 with a 91 and 88 in the respective 18-hole contests.

The tournament concludes Tuesday with the first tee-off at 8 a.m.
