Three Sports Make Conference Moves

After completing a two year stint as associate members of the North Eastern Athletic Conference, the men's and women's cross country and men's golf programs become associate members of the nine team St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, or SLIAC.  Three sports will once again participate in conference tournaments and in a position to secure an automatic NCAA DIII tournament bid.  In two seasons as associate members of the NEAC, both the men's women's cross country and men's golf teams finished in the top half of the respective tournament field with the biggest highlight coming in 2008 as the UD women's cross country program won the conference tournament.  The following year Dore Madere, the current men's and women's cross country coach, led the team to a second place finish.  Madere also led the men's cross country team to a third place finish in 2009 after coming in fourth place during the 2008 campaign.  Head coach Jared Samples also experienced success as he led his golf team to third and fourth place finishes in the 2009 and 2010 conference tournaments.

Other SLIAC members include Blackburn College, Eureka College, Fontbonne University, Greenville College, MacMurray College, Principia College, Spalding University, Webster University, and Westminster College.  For more information on the SLIAC visit: http://www.sliac.org/.
