Crusaders Take Down Colorado in Regular Season Finale

February 18, 2024

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Dallas men's basketball team won their conference matchup against Colorado College 87-82 on Saturday, improving to 12-13 overall on the year and 8-8 in conference play.

Dallas came out of the gates ice cold, missing their first eight field goal attempts to fall behind 12-1 after four and a half minutes.  It didn't take long for them to right the ship, however, as they scored 10 unanswered points to cut the deficit to one point in the span of three minutes.

The Crusaders were on fire the rest of the first half, going 16 -of-28 (57%) from the field and 5-of-11 (45%) from beyond the arc.  They caught the Tigers with seven minutes to play, and after trading blows they took a five-point lead into halftime.

Kelton Coleman (pictured) was the talisman on offense for Dallas in the first half, dropping 18 points in 13 minutes off the bench while going 5-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Dallas held their lead for the rest of the game, and led the Tigers by as many as 15 points.  They shot 49.3% from the field in the game, making it the eighth time this season they have shot at least 45% as a team.

Coleman finished the game with 27 points, a new single-game best in his young career.  Johny Olmsted and Jack Boyle each finished with 19 points. Boyle also recorded 10 rebounds and three blocks, and Olmsted dished out a career-best seven assists.
