Men's Basketball Defeated by Centenary on the Road

January 20, 2024

SHREVEPORT, La. - The University of Dallas men's basketball team lost their conference game against Centenary College 97-64 on Saturday, falling to 7-11 overall on the year and 4-6 in conference play.

Dallas struggled out of the gate, going 2-of-10 from the field in the first five minutes as Centenary took a 13-5 lead.  Both teams were scoreless through a two minute stretch, but Centenary had slowly built a 10-point lead after the first 10 minutes of play.

The Crusaders were solid from beyond the arc, going 6-of-17 (35.3%) but shot below their season average overall from the field at 11-of-29 (37.9%) in the first half.  The Gents shot over 50% from the field (19-of-35) and 42.9% (9-of-21) from three in the first half to take a 13-point lead into the break.

Though the Crusaders were able to stifle Centenary's productivity somewhat in the second half, they were not able to bolster their own as they struggled to get their shots to fall.  They shot just 20.5% from the field in the second half, going 8-of-39 and 5-of-21 from beyond the arc.

While Centenary were not as efficient in the second half, they capitalized on the Crusaders' struggles to pad their lead and pull away late in the game.

Jamal Leftwich (pictured) led the Crusaders with a new single-game high of 15 points, going 4-of-8 from the field, 3-of-7 from beyond the arc, and 4-of-5 from the line.
