Crusaders Split Season Series with Road Win vs Hendrix

December 20, 2023

CONWAY, Ark. - The University of Dallas men's basketball team won their non-conference matchup against Hendrix College 74-65 on Wednesday, improving to 4-8 overall on the year.

The Crusaders rattled off seven unanswered points in under two minutes to take the early lead, and they held onto that lead for most of the game.  Hendrix battled back to briefly take a 24-20 lead midway through the first half, but Dallas answered right back to take a 27-24 lead with just under five and a half remaining for what would ultimately be the final lead change of the game.

The Warriors kept it tight, and managed to go into halftime with just a two-point deficit.

Dallas slowly, but surely added to their lead and hit their best scoring run of the game in the second half, scoring 10 unanswered in a three minute span to take a 52-38 lead.  The Crusaders maintained their double digit lead for nearly 10 minutes before Hendrix finally cut the deficit down to nine points with five minutes left.

Hendrix battled, but never got closer than five points off the lead as Dallas held on to win and split the season series.

Johny Olmsted led all players with 23 points, matching his single-game high from just under a month ago against Whitman College.  In his last seven games, he is averaging 15.4 PPG while shooting 46% from the field.
