SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team lost their conference game against #22 Trinity University 87-52 on Saturday. They slip to 3-8 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.
Dallas matched the Tigers blow for blow in the early minutes and were within one possession eight minutes into the game. But Trinity gradually pulled away, taking a 10-point lead with just under 10 minutes to play in the first and held a double-digit lead for the rest of the game.
The Tigers scored 26 unanswered points across the final minutes of the first half and the first five and a half minutes of the second half to take a commanding lead. Though play was much tighter after the run, with Trinity holding the narrow edge at 23-21 over the final 13 minutes, it was too big a hole for Dallas to climb out of.
The Crusaders finished the game 22-of-71 (31%) from the field and 4-of-22 (18.2%) from three. They shot just seven free throws in the game, compared to 28 for Trinity, going 4-of-7 from the line.
