Albright Pulls Away Late to Defeat Crusaders

November 19, 2023

ARLINGTON, Va. - The University of Dallas men's basketball team lost 82-75 to Albright College (Pa.) on Sunday, falling to 1-4 on the season.

The Crusaders were slow to start, trailing by double digits after less than five minutes and falling behind by as many as 14 points in the first half.  Dallas found their form in the latter stages of the period, going on an 18-2 scoring run over a five and a half minute span to take a 31-29 lead with just under four and a half minutes to play in the half.

The lead was traded twice in the final three minutes, but the Crusaders continued their surge and went into halftime with a 42-39 lead.  They outscored the Lions 29-12 in the final 10 minutes of the first half.

Dallas got off to a bumpy start in the second half, turning the ball over three times and missing their first four field goal attempts in the first four minutes.  Albright briefly took a three point lead in that span, but the Crusaders reclaimed the lead three minutes later.  UD led by as many as five points in the second half, but the Lions took a 55-54 lead with 10 and a half minutes left and held the lead for the rest of the game.

The Crusaders kept it a one possession game for much of the remainder of the period, but struggled to put their shots away, shooting just 30.6% in the second half.  Albright did just enough to keep their distance and seal the win.

Jack Boyle secured a spot on the All-Tournament team, averaging 20.5 PPG and 13 REB/G.
