Men's Basketball Defeated by Hendrix at Home

November 13, 2023

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team lost 70-62 to Hendrix College on Monday, dropping to 1-2 on the season.

Things were back and forth for much of the first half, but the Crusaders settled in and built themselves a 10-point lead with just over eight minutes to play.  Hendrix battled to keep themselves in the game, and a buzzer-beater three pulled them back within three points at the halfway point.

There was little to separate the two sides, with four lead changes in the first 10 minutes of the second half and neither team leading by more than five points in that timeframe.  Dallas took a 50-46 lead with 9:45 remaining, but things quickly took a turn for the worse.  The Crusaders missed 11 straight field goal attempts, allowing Hendrix to take a 64-57 lead and only keeping themselves within striking distance with free throws.

Marcus Juarez sunk a three, just the third of the night for Dallas, with 53 seconds remaining to pull the Crusaders within four, but that would be the closest they got to tying the game as Hendrix held on for the win.

Jack Boyle led all players with 19 points, going 7-of-15 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free throw line.  Kelton Coleman provided 10 points in 23 minutes off the bench.
