Boyle and Toussaint Shine in Season Finale vs Austin

SHERMAN, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team won their conference matchup against Austin College 69-65 on Saturday.  The finish the season with a 10-15 overall record and a 4-12 record in conference play.

The game was tight from start to finish.  The lead changed hands a few times in the first 10 minutes, but Austin took the lead with just under nine minutes on the clock and left Dallas chasing the rest of the half.

Dallas hung in there and kept it close, with the lead never growing to more than seven points.  It could have easily been a tie game at halftime, but the Roos just had the edge with a three at the buzzer, taking a four-point cushion into the break.

The Crusaders scored 10 unanswerd points to open the second half, taking a 41-35 lead after five minutes.  That lead lasted for nearly 10 minutes as the two teams went at it; it was never more than a two possession game, with Dallas' biggest lead of the night being six points.

The Roos reclaimed the lead at 62-61 with just over three minutes to play, but Dallas took it right back less than a minute later with a pair of free throws by Jack Boyle.  Despite Austin's best efforts, that would be the final lead change of the game.  The Roos had the deficit down to two points with under a minute remaining, but Dallas played good defense and made their free throws when they needed it, holding on for a hard-fought 69-65 win.

Boyle and Letrell Toussaint put on a show in what will be their final game as teammates, this being the final game of Toussaint's collegiate career.  Toussaint went out by setting a new career-high, leading all players with 19 rebounds while notching 17 points.

Boyle led all players with 24 points, going 7-of-16 from the field and 10-of-13 from the free throw line, and was second amongst all players with 16 rebounds.

The Crusaders 10-15 record on the season is their best since the 2019-20 season, when they posted a 12-13 overall record.
