Crusaders Fall to Trinity on the Road

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team lost their conference match with Trinity University 83-73 on Friday.  They fall to 9-14 overall on the year and 3-11 in conference play.

The Crusaders came out ready to play in the first half, jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the first two minutes.  They held that lead for six minutes until Trinity tied the game up at 14-14; from there, it was a neck and neck fight.

The lead traded hands four times after that, with neither side able to lead by more than three points.  Trinity came out on top in the first half, taking a narrow two-point lead into halftime.  Dallas was leading 29-27 with two minutes left in the period, but A.J. Clark gave Trinity the lead with a three-pointer and a minute thirty on the clock, marking what would ultimately be the last time Dallas led in the game.

Trinity extended their lead to 10 points just after the first media timeout and soon made it a 20-point lead before reaching the halfway point in the period.

The Crusaders were able to cut into the deficit, outscoring the Tigers 26-13 over a nine-minute span to pull within single digits of the lead.  Dallas put themselves in a position to battle for the win, trailing by eight with just under two minutes left in the game.  But Trinity was able to stave off a late push by the Crusaders, hanging on for the win.

Letrell Toussaint led all players with 24 points and 11 rebounds, going 9-of-14 from the floor and 6-of-10 from the free throw line.  Jack Boyle was second in rebounds with 10, and Marcus Juarez was second in points with 21, setting a new career-best with seven three-pointers.
