Crusaders Take Down Ripon

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team won their non-conference match with Ripon College 62-54 on Wednesday.  They improve to 4-6 overall on the year.

The Crusaders came out of the gates firing, knocking down two threes inside the first minute of play to take a very early 6-0 lead.  They kept firing off shots, and though they were struggling to make them they were still leading 14-3 after the first 10 minutes.

While Dallas continued to struggle in the first half, the Redhawks were heating up in the final minutes, sinking four three-pointers in the last four minutes to take a 24-23 lead into halftime.

The lead changed hands four times in the first 10 minutes of the second half, with neither side able to lead by more than five.  The Crusaders took the lead for what would be the last lead change of the game on a fast break by Matt Holloway following a big block by Jack Boyle with nine and a half minutes remaining.

Dallas was sharp from the field in the second half, going 12-of-22 and hanging on for their second straight win.

Jack Boyle had a monster game with 23 points, a career-high 21 rebounds, and tying his career-high of six blocks.  Zac Olmsted and Laetrell Toussaint each had 11 points, Olmsted leading the team with four assists and two steals, and Toussaint grabbing nine rebounds.
