Sharpshooting Crusaders Take Down Hendrix

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team won their non-conference match with Hendrix College 89-60 on Tuesday.  They improve to 3-6 overall on the year.

The Crusaders were a bit cold out of the gate, going 4-14 from the field in the first seven minutes of the game.  Though they were clearly in control of the game, it was all square at 12-12 as they looked to improve their shooting the rest of the way.

Improve their shooting they did, as they went 13-25 the rest of the way and gradually built themselves a 14-point cushion that they took into halftime.  The Crusaders were particularly sharp from beyond the arc, going 6-12 from three-point range in the first half.  Marcus Juarez was a perfect 4-4 and Jacob Giunta 2-3, both of them en route to career-best three-point shooting performances.

On top of that, Dallas took care of the ball, with just four turnovers in the first half and tying their season best of 12 for the entire game.

It was more of the same in the second half, as the Crusaders steadily built their biggest lead of the season.  After leading by as many as 31 points, the 29-point margin of victory is the biggest win for the program since defeating Southwestern Adventist 89-45 in November of 2019.  They also put together their best three-pont shooting performance of the season and their best since February of last season, going 12-24 from beyond the arc.

Jack Boyle recorded his seventh double-double of the season, leading all players with 20 points and 14 rebounds.  Marcus Juarez was right behind with 19 points on a career-best 5-6 from three, and Jacob Giunta had 11 points with a career best 3-4 from three.
