Men's Basketball Cruise Past Hendrix

CONWAY, Ar. - The University of Dallas men's basketball team won their non-conference match with Hendrix College 68-52 on Sunday.  This marks the end of their preseason schedule and will see them take a 2-3 record into conference play.

The Crusaders came out of the gates hot, going 5-6 in the first four minutes to jump out to an early 13-2 lead.  Though they certainly couldn't keep that pace up, that finished the first half with a stellar 59% shooting from the field.  Hendrix was able to make a game of it, but the Crusaders enjoyed a double-digit lead for nearly the entire first half and would take a 12-point lead into the break.

Jack Boyle and Letrell Toussaint did much of the leg work in the first half, combining for 22 points while going 10-13 from the field.  Zac Olmsted went 3-5 from three, en route to what would be the best night in his young UD career.

The Warriors cut the lead to nine in the first two and a half minutes of the second half, but that would be the closest they got to reaching the Crusaders.  Though Dallas was not as prolific in the second half, they maintained their double-digit lead.  The final 16-point margin of victory would end up being their biggest lead of the night as they closed out a comfortable win.

Olmsted continued his sharpshooting ways, leading the Crusaders with 18 points while going 6-8 from three, the most three-pointers in a game by a Crusader this season.  Boyle notched his fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Toussaint notched 12 points and eight rebounds.  Matt Holloway didn't have a single blemish on his scorecard: he was a perfect 4-4 from the field and 2-2 from the free throw line for 11 points, without a single foul or turnover playing 29 minutes in his first start of the season.
