Crusaders Defeated by UTD

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team lost their non-conference match with the University of Texas-Dallas 82-60 on Wednesday night to fall to 0-2 on the year.

The Crusaders got off to a slow start as they struggled to deal with a smothering UTD defense.  The Comets jumped out to an early 9-0 lead, with the Crusaders finally getting themselves on the board five minutes in with a three-pointer by Jaxon Miles

The Comets led by as many as 15 points at various times in the first half, but UD were able to start stringing some points together in the final few minutes to cut into the deficit.  Zac Olmsted scored six points in two minutesto cut the lead down to six, but UTD scored back-to-back buckets in the final 15 seconds to go into halftime with a 10 point lead.

Both teams came out firing in the second half.  Jack Boyle in particular was a man on a mission in those opening minutes, racking up seven points and a block in two and half minutes.  But UTD answered right back every time as the two sides exchanged blows; despite the red-hot start by UD, the Comets actually extended their lead to 13, leading 50-37 after five minutes.

Despite some flashes of brilliance by everyone on the court, the Crusaders would never be able to get the deficit lower than 10 points as they could do little to stop a juggernaut UTD offense.  The Comets would continue to extend their lead, taking home the 82-58 lead.

Jack Boyle recorded his second straight double-double, leading the team with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Zac Olmsted had his second straight game with 10+, notching 11 points while going 3-6 from the floor.  Letrell Toussaint was a bucket and two boards from a double-double at eight points and eight rebounds.
